Walking With God

We are called to walk with Him

Walking with Emmanuel

The Bible says that there were two men who walked with God – Enoch and Noah. Enoch was so close to God that God took him. He just loved this man so much that He wanted him in heaven. This fascinates me. This was Old Testament, before Emmanuel came to live in us. These must have been extraordinary men, men with righteousness in their hearts and lives. God is so attracted to that.

There’s a reason that we’re told about the lives extraordinary people. If they could do it, so can we. People are people. Enoch wasn’t superman. Noah was as flawed as the rest of us. We shouldn’t hold them up as unattainable models. Walking with God is the reason we were created, but we’ve been led to believe that it’s not possible this side of heaven. Tell that to Enoch.

I want this. I want the reality of God so powerfully in my life that I hear Him, and know Him, have conversations with Him. Yes, I have Him with me now and we do have some of this, to some extent, but I want more. Other men honored God, but it wasn’t said that they walked with God. On earth as it is in heaven. That’s where I want to live.
