Go Ahead, Pray For Patience

Patience will save your life

Patience will save your life

How many times have you heard people say, never pray for patience because you’ll be hit with a difficult situation that will try the little patience that you do have? The logic of this always astounds me.

First of all, we know that we will have those situations whether we pray for patience or not. James has the answer: My brethren  count it all joy when [when!] you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. (Jam 1:2) Going through the trial is the only way to get what you need. If the end product is what you said you wanted, why not ask for it?

Patience is more than a virtue, it’s a spiritual vitamin. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (Jam 1:3) You can be perfect if you have patience. How amazing is that? In the parable of sowing seed, the seed that fell on good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. (Luke 8:15) Patience keeps the Word of God strong inside you.

It is a trick of the enemy to rush us to act, to be demanding, to hate to wait on anything. Jesus said, By your patience possess your souls. (Luk 21: 19) The Amplified Bible says it this way: By your steadfastness and patient endurance you shall win the true life of your souls. You really do need it. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (Mat 24:13) Patience will save your life.
