The Power Of Meditation

prayer of the day

Soak in the word of God.

Meditation is not a sinful word.Eastern religions have changed the purpose of meditation to emptying the mind instead of filling it with thoughts of God. Don’t shun a practice that God requires because others have contaminated it.

Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. (Ps 4:4)

When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. (Ps 63:6)

I call to remembrance my song in the night. I meditate within my heart, and my spirit makes diligent search. (Ps 77:6)

I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds. (Ps 77:12)

I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate your ways. (Ps 119:15)

Make me understand the way of Your precepts, so I shall meditate on Your wonderful works. (Ps 119: 27)

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. (Ps 145:5)

But when you pray, go into your room and close the door. (Matt 6:6)

Be still, and know that I am God. (Ps 46:10)

Set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth. (Col 3:2)

We are so driven by this world to be constantly occupied by entertainment that our intimate time with God is stolen away from us. Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing. How can we live like that unless we sit quietly before Him and look to Him?

This is not a suggestion, it’s a command from God. We need to sit quietly to hear the very things we’re asking of Him. Don’t time it. Don’t give Him 15 minutes and be done. Would you do that to your best friend? Soak in His presence. Let His peace overtake you and your spirit will respond to His. You’ll start to get thoughts that come from Him. Amazing thoughts that draw you closer to Him.

Meditation is having a three way conversation between you and yourself and God. You need to hear Him, then think about what it means to you. Then God will jump in again and add another idea to think about. When you hear His wisdom, you realize that the problems in your life are easily handled by trusting Him.
