God blesses persistent faith

I’ve been on a boat ride through this arch in Cabo San Lucas.  It used to be a solid piece of rock, but over the years, the action of waves eroded it. Where there once was a wall, now there is an archway.

Jesus told the story about a neighbor who comes in the middle of the night to ask for bread. He is rewarded, not because he is a friend, but because he is persistent in asking. The woman who went to the unjust judge got what she wanted because she kept asking.

The time to stop asking in faith is when you see your answer finally come. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1) Faith is believing that God will give you what you pray for, regardless of how long it takes to answer.

How badly do you want your prayer answered? Can you pray for a year? Can you pray for ten years? Pray like you expect God to answer today, but be patient to wait as long as it takes. Jesus’ story about the persistent neighbor and the woman before the judge tells us the God blesses persistence.

Pray like it matters and don’t stop. Just don’t stop.
