How To Know His Will

Intimacy with God makes for peaceful decisions.

So many times when we are faced with looking for a job or deciding on multiple opportunities before us, we pray and ask God to only open one door. If only one door opens, then we feel confident that we are going forward in His will. But what if more than one door opens? What if a job offer comes and you wonder if that’s the one you should take? How do you know which one is the right one?

Too many times, we look for God’s will in circumstances. It’s my opinion that God wants a closer relationship with us, so sometimes He forces the conditions so that we have to look for other signs of His will, like going before Him and asking. Looking for circumstances to make our decisions keeps God at a distance. There’s nothing intimate there.

And when we do sit at His feet and ask which opportunity to take, we might be surprised to hear Him say, which one do you want? He puts His desires in us so we should trust our own dreams. We need to get away from asking Him to open or close doors and start listening to His voice. If we are walking with Him, He’ll guide our path. If you hear Him say to stay away from an open door, then obey. Don’t expect it to close to keep you out if you’ve been warned. I’m a firm believer that God will bless you in whatever you do if you are sincere in loving Him with all your heart, soul, strength, and might.
