Why Do We Say, In Jesus Name?

In Jesus' name

Jesus gave us His authority.

When we pray in Jesus name, we are saying that we belong to Him, not just because He covered our sin on the cross, but because we’ve become family. Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him, in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ Himself. (Eph 1:4-5) By praying in the name of Jesus, we are telling powers that be that we have the same last name as Jesus. We’ve been given all the rights of sonship.

There is power in His name. We can do all the things that Jesus did if we act in His name. Think about it. He healed the blind, the lame, the sick. He raised people from the dead. He stopped storms and calmed the sea. The same authority has been given to us. And Jesus said that we would do even greater things than He did.

The evil of this world cannot stand before the power of the name of Jesus. We should be releasing the kingdom of God all around us, pushing back the enemy territory with every declaration of the name of Jesus. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (Col 3:17)

In the name of Jesus, let’s change the world. Don’t be shy about this. Step up and assume your position in the Family.
