How To Forgive

Forgiveness heals a broken heart.

Forgiveness is healing.

First of all, let’s talk about what forgiveness isn’t. It does not mean that you agree with an offense that hurt you or made you mad. It’s releasing that hurt out of your  life. Holding on to offense is like protecting a festering wound. For some reason we tend to  keep it fresh and painful. Why? Why? Why? Take it to God. Tell Him what hurts. It might help to visualize putting it in a box and handing it Him. Whenever it comes up again, give it to God. Ask Him to take it away. That event should become just a memory without any emotion attached to it. And if the same offence happens again? Forgive again. Seventy times seven. (Matt 18:22) Jesus said to forgive people as long as they need forgiving. It’s a bad thing to not forgive others. “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matt 6:15) Do you really want to live with that?

God also gives good things when we let go of bad things. It’s ok to ask for it. Tell Him, God I give you this pain and hurt. What do you have for me in exchange? He’s delighted to give you joy, peace, healing, promotion, what ever He sees you need the most. Unforgiveness will keep doors closed that we desperately need open. Ask God to show you where you need to forgive and let go for good.

Excellent. This is a topic we all need to deal with on a lot of levels. I’ve been accused of not forgiving people, but have also learned that if people are poisonous and harmful to you or your family or your soul, it’s not about forigiveness, but about avoidance. And that it also Christian. But, still, we have to look in our hearts and ask ourself if we truly forgive those who have hurt us. And you are right. He offers that total healing when we give the situation to Him

I feel the same about mylesf Colette… I think I am too hard on mylesf and I try to remind mylesf that it is a learning experience for mylesf and my son. Pure love forgives anything. But guilt pours in me when I know I screwed up and I can’t take back my mistakes. On the other hand, we’re only human and we’re bound to make mistakes, right (huffing and puffing)?!?!
