Unforgiveness Blocks Love

A woman, known in the city as a major sinner, knelt at Jesus’s feet and wiped them with her tears and hair. The Pharisee was offended by her presence, let alone her action. But Jesus was blessed by her and forgave all her many sins, for she loved much. (Luke 7:47) But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. (vs 47) The Phillips translations says, But the man who has little to be forgiven has only a little love to give. So, if I don’t ask for forgiveness, I don’t have the capacity to love much. Ouch.

I closed my eyes and asked God to show me places that I have not forgiven or confessed sin. He showed me one instance after another of childhood jealousies and hurts I hung on to. I confessed each one as I remembered them. Then I asked Him to replace His love with the sin that was once there. I know there is more. Baby steps.
