When Heaven Comes Down, I’ll Be There

in the glory of GodYou know how you read the Bible and a passage that you’ve read for years suddenly has great meaning? I love that. It means that God is communicating something special right then. I recently had one of those moments and it’s making me kind of giddy.

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and let them up on a high mountain apart by themselves and He was transfigured before them. (Mark 9:2) All of a sudden it hit me–Jesus came to earth as the Son of Man, not the Son of God. As the Son of Man, He only did what God showed Him to do. He was our model so we would see how to live in the kingdom.

So if Jesus was able to commune with God in such an amazing, striking way, can I do that? Is it possible for me to be in such communion with God that heaven literally comes down to me? I’ll have some of that. If Jesus did it, then I want to too. I want to be on speaking terms with God face to face, and Moses and Elijah too. Why not?

The idea of that is calling me to my knees and I’m a little amazed at myself for not going after this before. If that experience has ever happened to you, please share.
