How To Encourage Someone

to prophecy

People loving people makes God happy

No man is an island, Entire of itself. Each is a piece of the continent, A part of the main.–John Donne.  This is so true. We are made for community, a body. We are not meant to live solitary lives, struggling with life’s issues all alone. We are made to support each other.  Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love God. The second was to love each other. Because it’s His plan for us love and support each other, He made a way to do it with the breath of heaven.

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. … He who prophesies speaks edification, and exhortation, and comfort to men. (1Cor 14:1-2) The gift of prophecy is telling someone what God wants them to know. He always has nice things to say. Edification means to build up. Exhortation means to encourage. Comfort means…comfort.

When you are praying for someone needing help, any kind of help, slow down and listen in your heart. You’ll hear God giving you a message to bless that person. It may be a picture of something in your mind. Ask the person if that picture means anything to them. Chances are it will. And it will mean that they know that God hears them and loves them enough to tell them. God has many languages and He will communicate His message to you in a number of ways if you are paying attention.

Practice prophecy. Who knows best how to encourage someone better than God? Let Him use you. It will bless the person who needs it and it will give you a thrill you’ll not get any other way.
