Is God Your Best Friend?

the friend of God

I am a friend of God

This God of our is amazing. He lives in us. There’s no way of really understanding what that means, but it’s true. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, He makes our heart His home, and then He sits back and waits quietly for us to get that.

It was always God’s great plan to have a relationship with us that went far beyond worshiping fearfully from a distance. He wants intimacy with us. That’s why He chose to live in our hearts, not our elbows.

Is it possible to be friends, actual friends with God? Abraham was. But you, Israel are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the descendants of Abraham My friend. (Is 41:8) Moses was. So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. (Ex 33:11) I want that.

My friendship with God has been very one-sided. I do all the talking and He does all the listening. I think it’s time to switch that around. What He has to say is far more interesting and helpful anyway. He knows everything that I need and enjoy. I want to listen to what He has to say about it. I want to get to know my Friend better than I ever have. He will never leave me and He loves me more than anyone, so He’s the perfect Friend, and He always will be.
