Seeing A Big View Of God | The Creation Of The Universe

God who made it all is big enough.

Once, after reading a book on patterns in chaos theory, I sat in a hot tub and watched the bubbles float up and thought the dynamics of water flow. But the Lord got my attention and said to think of the universe instead. Instantly, like watching a video, I saw the creation of all things. I saw stars forming and group into galaxies and spin away. I saw planets circling in solar systems and drift off into distant star clusters, all while watching the bubbles fly up to the surface of the water. It was fantastic. But I had to ask God, “Where are you in this?” And God said to me, “I’m not in the hot tub.” Oh, I understand, His throne is above, outside of His creation. Yet He came to live in me!

The hot tub experience was an amazing revelation to me of just how big God is. So when I read, Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph 3:20), I know that God is truly big enough to do anything for me. Not only that, He’ll go beyond what I can even dream. He’s that able. And not only that, but He really wants to.
