More Good, Less Bad

Righteousness is a decision.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. (Matt 5:6) The dictionary says that righteousness is: adhering to moral principles. Morality is motivation based on what is right and what is wrong. I’d say that just about all of us want to do the right thing. Are we desperate to do the right thing?

God wants to see us hunger and thirst for knowing what is right and what is wrong. Hunger and thirst are tremendous desires. When we can get to that point, He promises to fill us with righteousness. Imagine what life would be like if you did the right thing all the time. No skirting the rules, no pushing the speed limit, no keeping quiet when you shouldn’t. Your life would be a safety zone for other people learning to do the right thing. We have to cry out for what we lack and feel it in our soul. No wishful thinking, but serious, heartfelt WANT. And when we do the right thing, we can change the world. I’m starting to get hungry.
