I’m going to share a key to happiness that I learned from God. It’s not deep, but it is profound. The secret to happiness is…don’t be unhappy.
Yep, it’s that deep. The point is that, unless you’re dealing with a chemical imbalance, you control your own emotions. Anger is a state of mind that you invite in. Sadness, disappointment, apathy–they all come and go at your command. Whoa! Yep, if any unpleasant emotion gets stirred up within you and you embrace it, then you have commanded it to come in. What you do with it is your control as well.
You may have to talk to yourself and say, I will not partner with fear, anger, or bitterness. I will not hold onto emotion that I don’t want to have. Leave me now. I choose to be happy. I choose to have joy. I receive the joy of the Lord and embrace the goodness of God. I am happy because I choose to be happy.
All those negative emotions are of the enemy so deal with them like an enemy attack. Get rid of them, then replace them with the good fruits of God’s Spirit–love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, self-control, faithfulness, gentleness. (Gal 5:22-23) Embrace what is good and happiness will come.
Very Good. 2 Cor 10:5
