Learn to live humbly and be blessed.

If there is one personal quality that God absolutely adores it is this – a humble spirit. There is something so compelling about humility that He just can’t keep from blessing. He says over and over, if you will humble yourself, He will lift you up.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. (1Pet 5:6)

Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (Jam 4:10)

The Lord will lift up the humble. (Ps 147:6)

And God is absolutely good to His word. Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all the men who were on the face of the earth. (Num 12:3) What did God do for the humblest man on the planet? He made him the deliverer of an entire nation and allowed him to see God with his own eyes. David was humble enough to repent of his sins and God made David’s throne eternal. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom. (Is 9:7) God would have rejoiced if any other king had repented after sinning, but no one did.

So, how do we actually live humbly? Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (Phi 2:3) Ask God to give you a humble heart. Ask Him to forgive you for pride and selfishness.  And just about the time you really could care less about being lifted up, God will do something big in your life and it will be for a reason. God needs people of humility to do the work of the kingdom so the places of power can be blessed. There’s enough said about humble beginnings, we need more humble endings.
