The Secrets Of Psalm 91

he that dwellsPsalm 91 is an extraordinary psalm. It is the promise that God will protect you from sickness and danger, no matter how many people standing right next to you fall. It is the promise that He will answer when you call. It is the promise of long life and salvation. But not for everyone.

You have to belong to a select club to take advantage of these promises. You have to know the secret knock. Fortunately  God makes it very clear who gets to be part of His club.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High. (v 1)

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High your dwelling place. (v 9)

Because he has set his love upon Me. (v 14)

Because he has known My name. (v 14)

God promises to protect and bless if we literally live in His secret place. But it’s a secret place! If it’s a secret, how are we supposed to find it? How do you know if you live in His secret place? It’s like reading the menu in an expensive restaurant, if you have to ask you don’t have it.

God is so bad at keeping some secrets. He’ll actually tell you if you ask. In fact, He stands at your door and knocks, so if you let Him in, He’ll tell you everything. You find out that the secret place is right in your own heart. When He moves in, He brings heaven with Him. Jesus taught us to pray, on earth as it is in heaven, so we can be blessed with His presence and the blessings of heaven right here.

You have to set you love on Him. You have to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. (Mat 22:37) He must be your one true love, your heart’s desire. He must be the one who make you giddy. He doesn’t say that you can’t be in love with someone else, He just wants to be loved first and above every other love in your life.

You have to know His name. Do you know:

El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty)

El Elyon (The Most High God)

Adonai (Lord, Master)

Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah)

Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)

Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd)

Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)

Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There)

Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)

Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You)

El Olam (The Everlasting God)

Elohim (God)

Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)

Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)

Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts)

Can you say that you know God in these ways? You must, if you want to be in His secret club. You say, God, I want in your secret place. He says, What’s My name? You say, You are the God who heals, who sanctifies me, who provides all my needs. The door will swing open.

If you do not live in the secret place of the Most High, then you do not know Him, but you can. It’s as easy as asking Him to come in. Then learn to love. Learn His names. Learn to trust Him with your life. You’ll find yourself in the secret place and you’ll never want to leave.
