Love is a choice. In a marriage, two people choose to love each other. It’s a relationship that takes work. You choose to forgive and trust each other. Your relationship with God is the same way, only He’s the one who forgives and you’re the one who trusts. You have to choose to love Him. We’re told to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. That is a choice. You have to make the decision to love with all your mind.
Your mind is the way you think. We’re told to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Rom 12:2) How do we do that? God made it easy. But we have the mind of Christ. (1Cor 2:16) He gave us exactly what we need. It’s ours. When we choose life in Christ, we received all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2Pet 1:3)
When we choose to love God with all our mind, we take on the mind of Christ that is already in us. Now, just think about that for a second. If you could think with the mind of Christ, how would that change your life? It doesn’t say we have a watered down version of something that’s actually too morally high for us to attain anyway. It says, WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST. All we have to do is choose to love God in every way we can think of. Just doing that kicks in the greatest gift in the universe. I really want that.
