We’ve been taught to be afraid of the day of judgement. When we stand before God after we die, we assume the worst. It’s the same response we feel when we remember facing the principal at school when we were bad, or seeing a police car behind us on the road. Even if we haven’t done anything wrong, we feel as if we had. If feels like we’re always in trouble.
That attitude doesn’t come from God. The devil wants us to be afraid of God. He wants us think that we’re always to blame for something so we either give up in hopeless depression or work to make it better.
But there is nothing that we can do to justify ourselves. Nothing. We actually do deserve death, but Jesus took that verdict away on the cross. When we receive salvation through His blood, we are justified by Him. We can look forward to eternity with eagerness.
Love has been perfected among us in this, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement, because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love. (1Jhn 4:17-18) Don’t allow the devil to guilt you. If you belong to Christ, then His status is your status. For you, the day of judgement is a welcome home party.
