Some lessons are just easier to learn than others. God used a stomach flu to get His point across when I didn’t seem to get it any other way. I’m not saying that God made me sick to teach me a lesson, but He did use the occasion to His advantage.
I had a day filled with things that I needed to do and I just didn’t have the energy to do it all. I prayed a feeble prayer and asked God if He would please take care of what I could not. I would do my best, but He would have to fill in for me. Finally! I heard Him say. Then it suddenly hit me–He’s been trying to get me to let of stuff for a long time. If I could hold on to that attitude of knowing my own weakness and letting God work through me, He could get some stuff done.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (Eph 6:10) The only way to be strong in the Lord is to stop being strong in ourselves. When we plan it all out and expect God to show up and bless it, we won’t see the results we were hoping to see. But when we let Him be the strong one and we follow Him, we’ll see what He can really do.
