How will you respond to God’s correction?

There is one certainty about learning to hear God, it’s never going to be boring. I love what Habakkuk says, I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected. (Hab 2:1) Note, he said when, not if.

Habakkuk expected to hear God and he expected to be corrected. Why? Because God’s ways are higher than our ways. Correction may come because God has a better idea about how to do something, not because we did anything wrong. We tend to think small, where God thinks big. His ways are always better because He can see around corners and into the future.

But Habakkuk also knew that he’d better think about his response to correction. What a wise man. If we don’t take correction like a wise man and receive it willingly, then we suffer the consequences of our own arrogance. Learning to hear God is essential to spiritual growth. Receiving correction is maturity, and God can use a mature Christian far more than an immature ones.
