Remember being a kid and hoping to be picked for a team? Kids all around you have been picked and you hope against hope that you won’t be the last one left standing alone. You want to be wanted. You want other people to like you and want to be with you. How amazing it is to know that God has wanted you from before creation.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. (Ps 139:16) He knew you and wanted you before you were made. He wanted you. That’s why this world was created, so He could have you in His circle of friends.
There is something comforting, down to the elemental level in knowing that we are loved and wanted. It meets a need so deep in us that we don’t even realize how it affects our decisions and relationships.
We need to respond to His wooing. We were designed to answer that call. The need to belong comes from Him. Until we do, we’ll always feel left out. And oh the joy when we find the source that meets our great need. We are home at last. The love of God is satisfying to our soul.
Open your heart to Him. The One who wants you most is waiting.
