Salvation requires our obedience

Salvation comes with a price.

Now He owns you. You are a child of God, and just like any parent, He expects a certain type of behavior from you. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

To do justly is to do what is right. We don’t cheat. We don’t push the limits of the law. We speak up when we should, even if it’s inconvenient. We act with honor.

To love mercy is to show kindness, even at home. We use our resources and authority to help where we can. We stop being judgmental and more loving.

Humility is remembering that all good things come from God, not us. It’s keeping Godly perspective in the middle of our successes. To walk humbly with our God is a great gift. He promises to walk with us, to be at our side so we can lean on Him.

He requires all this of us. What if we don’t? Then the doors of grace may not open when we want them to. And if we obey? If we do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him? No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Ps 84:11) That’s an awesome promise.
