For many people, the question of God’s relevancy is irrelevant. God is, full stop. But for a lot of other people, it’s a real question. In fact, over 152,000 people a day search for answers about God online. Why is that? Why do so many people need to know these answers?
I believe the desire to know about God is born with us. We are created beings. In fact, we are created in God’s image. That God-shaped hole in our hearts longs for Him to fill it, we just don’t always understand what we are feeling.
Why do you suppose that every culture on the planet has a religion? It’s because we are meant to be in relationship with the one true God, a God who is three people in one–God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Nothing will satisfy until we know Him. Other gods can’t heal, can’t raise the dead, can’t open doors that no man can open. No feel good religion can make a miracle. Only God.
Is God relevant? If by relevant you mean, does faith in God make sense in today’s society? I say, absolutely. There is no age what does not need to know God. To assume that there is no life after we die is naive. The sole reason for this life is to prepare us for the life to come. If we don’t have a relationship with God now, we will face an eternity of regret later.
Everything we need to know about God is in His word, the Bible. The Old Testament describes our need to know Him, the New Testament describes how to know Him. Yet I am the Lord your God ever since the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but Me, for there is no savior besides Me. (Hosea 13:4)
He is not hard to find. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matt 7:8) God honors the noble heart that turns to Him. It will never be a mistake, even if it’s a hard decision to make. Trust in Him, and He will always be there for you.
