God Is Not Surprised By Our Humanity
Sometimes I’m a little horrified by my own thoughts. I’ll think something or say something completely selfish or unkind. I may catch myself at the time and repent, or it may be much later that I feel the conviction of what I did. I wonder like David, Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? (Ps 144:3) I am so imperfect, how can You love me, let alone let me live? Continue reading
Crucible Heart, Coming Soon!
After lots of work and self-doubt, my book is almost ready for prime time. As part of a blog hop with other writers, we are all answering questions about our work to give you an idea of what’s ahead.
1: What is the working title of your book?
Crucible Heart. It is the first of a three book series.
2: Where did the idea come from for the book?
Initially, it was going to be about an angel who helps direct the life of a woman in need, but he morphed into a real guy. Jenna came out of thinking through who this woman in need was.
3: What genre does your book come under?
Christian, Women’s Fiction
That doesn’t mean that men won’t enjoy it. It means that the story is about the development of a woman as the man character.
4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I think I can see Ann Hathaway as Jenna. I can’t think of a good male actor with the same hair and eyes as Jess.
5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Jenna Johnson killed a boy. Now she must learn to learn to live with her past and find hope for her future.
I know, that’s two sentences, but it works for me.
6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
I will be releasing it as an ebook on Amazon Kindle to start and other devices after that.
7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Probably three months. The following rewrites took a lot longer.
8: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
It’s set in San Francisco and many of the places are real places. For instance, Jenna’s apartment is based on a real apartment on Broderick Street. The businesses are made up, but based on those in the local area.
Crucible Heart will be released by the end of March. (That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it!) If you would like to be notified when it is available, sign up for my newsletter here.
Book Two in this series, Deep Grace, is under construction now.
