How would you feel if you watched your son struggle to get to work because he didn’t have a car?
You watch him run breathlessly, weighed down by the things he needed to carry with him, always late and exhausted. How would you feel if you held out keys to a car you bought for him that would change his life but he refused to accept them because he thought cars were strange? Respectable people don’t drive cars, they wore themselves out running to get to places.
God must watch us the same way. He gave us gifts of the Spirit to help us and change our lives, but too many Christians refuse to accept them. There’s something stubborn and prideful about that. It’s as if they have decided how much of the Bible they will believe and stopped there. God can’t possibly mean what He said.
Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts. (1Cor 14:1) What are those gifts? 1Cor 12:8-10:
- The word of wisdom
- The word of knowledge
- Faith
- Healing
- Miracles
- Prophecy
- Discerning of spirits
- Tongues
- Interpretation of tongues
These gifts are given to us to help each other. They are tools to help us stop believing the lies of the enemy and walk in the greater truth of God. We are told to desire these gifts for a reason. We need them.
Ask God to help you understand what you don’t understand. Stop running and accept your keys.

That’s a nice way to put it. The gifts empower us in the ministry. Thank you.
