Religion Stinks

first seek ye the kingdom of God

Religion is not the same as knowing God

I know, that’s a little strong, but it’s true.Religion is not the same as living in right relation with God. It’s not the same as becoming a son of God where you live and move and have your being in Him.

Religion makes you feel guilty over just about everything. Religion causes division where some are holy and others are not. It’s never happy. It makes you give up everything you love, to do what you really don’t want to, so you feel used and unappreciated. It makes you work for acceptance.

That’s not God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Gal 5:22) If you don’t have the Spirit, you don’t have the fullness of God. That’s who God is and if you walk with Him, His Spirit will be in you.

Jesus said, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. (Matt 5:6) You are blessed when you seek after God, but when you find Him, you should be filled. I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. (Jhn 6:35)

Once you come into the kingdom, you should be filled with God Himself. If you don’t have that, then all you have is religion. If all you do going to church and all the activities still leaves you feeling empty, then what you have is religion.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matt 6:33) To seek is to search out, to look earnestly, to hunger and thirst. Be hungry for God and He will fill you with the fullness that will draw you straight into His presence. Stop worrying about religion and set your heart to know God as He wants you to know Him.
