The Power of God Changes Lives

The Power of God Delivers

The power of God changes lives.

When Jesus met the demon possessed man of the Gadarenes, the man was changed, radically. He went from being naked and out of his mind to sane and clothed. He was so grateful for what Jesus did that he begged to go with Him. The power of God changed a man to his very core.

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Heb 13:8) Never doubt that He has the same power to heal and deliver today. The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you. (Rom 8:11) You have it within you to do what Jesus did.

Just because you don’t see other people releasing the power of God doesn’t mean it can’t be done. It just means that people around you lack faith. Imagine being used to save someone who needs help. The Spirit of God can use you to touch and transform lives. All you have to do is submit yourself into His hands and let Him do the work. It’s not about you anyway.

When you see a need, ask the Holy Spirit to work through you. He can heal, break bondage, and bless. The power of God is the same today as it was when Jesus spoke to the Gadarene man, and it always will be.

God Likes Praise Loud

shout joyfully to the Lord

Shout to the Lord. He likes it loud.

God’s version of praise is not nearly as sedate as ours. He likes things messy and loud. I’m not sure where we got the idea that praise was to be sung in a restrained and respectful manner. When the Lord said, be still and know that I am God, He wasn’t talking about times of praise. He wants to hear us shout. Continue reading

God Fills the Deep Need to be Wanted

What is the love of God

God loves you and wants you.

Remember being a kid and hoping to be picked for a team? Kids all around you have been picked and you hope against hope that you won’t be the last one left standing alone. You want to be wanted. You want other people to like you and want to be with you. How amazing it is to know that God has wanted you from before creation. Continue reading

Thankfulness Positions You for Blessing

being thankful

A thankful heart positions you for blessing.

Cultivate thankfulness. Thankfulness is an aspect of humility and the foundation for developing a servant’s heart. We live in such a driven world that thankfulness is easily cast aside as we try to get things done.

Thankfulness will protect against pride, and pride is the ruin of so many lives. When you are thankful, you recognize the good things that God is doing for you out of love. When Jesus healed the ten lepers, only one returned to give thanks. Weren’t there ten?, Jesus asked. He expected thankfulness from all of them for what He did.

When you are thankful for the small things, God will trust your heart for the bigger things. If you don’t respond gratefully for what He does, don’t expect more. It won’t happen until you recognize that thankfulness hasn’t been a part of your natural response.

Thankfulness is not about feeling guilty about Jesus’ sacrifice. He did it out of love. Receive it with joy. Be thankful for His blessing, for His goodness, for all the plans He has for you if you press in to believe. Be thankful for His promises, even though you can’t see them yet. Thank Him as if they were already done. Stop begging and asking and thank Him. It’s part of faith to believe for what He will do and gives you hope.

Temptation is Not Sin, Yet

Pray now to avoid being tempted

It is not a sin to be tempted.

It’s not a sin to be tempted. Thoughts can come into your head that are not your thoughts. When you recognize that they are not your thoughts, or thoughts you do not want to have, rebuke them. Tell yourself, no, I’m not going there. Call on Jesus.

God knows that we have an enemy that works daily to take us down. That’s why He gave us a plan to deal with it. Pray that you may not enter into temptation. (Lk 22:40) And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (Mat 6:13)

Prayer protects us. It’s wise to pray up before temptation happens rather than struggle to overcome it when faced with it. The thing about temptation is, it’s usually really tempting! If it’s not, then it’s not a temptation to us. Temptation is something that deep inside, we really want but shouldn’t have.

It takes the presence of God to help us overcome what we know to be wrong. And since we are human, we will face weakness until the day we die. Get into the habit now of praying that you will not face temptation. Prayer is your protection and great wisdom. You don’t have to fail.

How to Get the Favor of God

the favor of God

What is the favor of God?

There used to be a commercial on TV many years ago for a company I don’t remember. What I do remember is that some guy named Bob got special treatment everywhere he went. Even on the freeway, there was a special lane just for Bob. You know what that’s called in heaven? Favor.  Continue reading

Today is Awesome. Bless the Lord!

the day the Lord has made

This is the day that the Lord has made

When you start your day, are you excited or depressed? Do you look at your workload and wonder how you’ll make it? Are you as exhausted getting up as you were going to bed? If so, something has to change.

Start your day with God. Give Him everything you have to do. Hand it over. He said His load is easy and His burden is light. He wants to carry yours.  Ask Him to help you with all your tasks. Ask Him for wisdom and favor.

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. (Ps 118:24) Choose to rejoice, regardless of how you feel. Be joyful. There is so much to be happy about when you live under the shadow of His wings. (Ps 91)

And whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not to men. (Col 3:23) When you live your life for God and honor Him. He promises to bless you. When you put your life in His hands, He promises that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28)

Bless the Lord and be happy. It’s going to be a great day.
