Seriously, does God have a sense of humor? Well, if you don’t think so based on looking at giraffes, platypuses, or certain people who shall remain nameless, then look at scripture. Jesus said that faithful servants will enter into the joy of the Lord. (Mat 25:23) Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit. (Gal 5:22) The joy of the Lord is our strength. (Neh 8:10)

Does joy equate to a sense of humor? I think so. It’s hard to laugh if you don’t have joy. And if the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom 14:17), I’m guessing that God really enjoys a good laugh.

When He puts His Spirit in us, we are supposed to be transformed by the renewing of our minds to become more Christ-like. We are to be the reflection of Jesus on earth, just as Jesus was the reflection of the Father. That means, we’re supposed to reflect His joy as well. We’re supposed to be like little children, and what do little kids love to do? Laugh and play.

Once you start listening to the voice of God, you may be shocked at how funny He is. He loves to pun. It’s insane. Shake off any self-ordained seriousness. Chose to unlearn what you’ve been taught about how you approach God. Read for yourself what God says and have a good laugh. Chances are, heaven will be laughing with you.
