How To Be Saved

how do I get to heavenIt is God’s desire that we be saved, that we live in a loving relationship with Him. First, we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross to eliminate our sins, and rose from the dead to sit at the right hand of God. Then we must ask Him to live in our heart and commit ourselves to Him.

It is that commitment that will determine our salvation. Praying a prayer and not changing our lifestyle does not make us saved. There is one essential requirement that will keep us eternally thankful and covered by grace–the ability to hear God.

Jesus said, My sheep know my voice and I know them, and they follow Me. (Jhn 10:27) You must hear Him to follow Him. How do you learn to hear God? Just like you learn the voice of anyone, you spend time in His presence.

Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit, sometimes called the baptism of the Holy Spirit. His Spirit will give you the guidance and direction that you need. His Spirit speaks to your spirit and is full of all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him. (2Pet 1:3)

The voice of God will stir your heart. You may hear it reading His word. You may hear it while you pray. You may hear it listening to someone speak. You may hear it in your dreams. You may see images in your mind. God is not limited to communicating in your native language.  He has a range of languages, and they are not all the languages of people.

Learn to hear God. Know His voice and follow Him. Do not be like the foolish virgins shut out of the wedding because the Lord did not know them. (Mat 25:11) If you are His sheep, you will know the sound of His voice.
