Why are movies about warrior kings that have to fight for their throne so popular?I think it’s because we love majesty and justice. We love when the warrior fights against the odds and wins. We want to see the king come into his own and everyone love him. I think we love that because that’s who Jesus is and our hearts are designed to respond to Him.
Jesus came in humility–born in a stable, not even in a poor person’s house. He always pointed to His father. He was attacked just for being Himself. Through His meekness, He lived in incredible power, and He rose to become the King of kings. His is a story love, sacrifice, triumph, and majesty. It’s everything that we love.
Jesus is the perfect conquering King. His reign is guided by His divine love. His justice is compassionate. He is the King who lived among us, so He knows our hearts and our dreams. And He is a King who wants the very best for us. His is a reign of kindness and gentleness, yet absolutely dispassionate to evil.
And this King of kings made us an heir equal to Him before God. He is the perfect answer to what our hearts cry out for.
