Is there a problem between you and your friend, neighbor, co-worker? God says, don’t even bother going to the altar until you work it out. There’s no place for offence in the kingdom. If we can’t apologize or put someone else’s needs above our own, then we haven’t learned what Jesus has been trying to teach us.
What happens when we let offence take root? We get defensive and the slightest mention of something we don’t agree with makes those roots grow deeper. Our ability to love starts to get choked off and we allow the enemy to punch holes in our armor. Pretty soon, we feel beat up. When we go to God, He says, looks like you need to deal with somethings and get that armor repaired. Come back later and We’ll talk.
Don’t let another day go by. Apologize, agree to be misunderstood, forgive. As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. (Pr 27:17) Your friend’s ability to call you on offence actually sharpens your weapons against the enemy of your soul. Thank God for that. Allow humility to strengthen your weapons.
