God Has You In His Hand, But Do You Trust Him?

It takes great faith to relax and trust.

A posture of trust will allow God to be what you need Him to be.

As a believer, you are safe in God’s hands. He promises to protect you and provide all that you need. All that you have to do is trust Him. I happen to know that this is not as easy as it sounds. The Lord showed me that I may realized that I am in His hand, but my posture is one standing with hands on hips and looking around to confirm that He will do that He said He would. It is trust, but only just.

God showed me that He wants me to relax–literally to recline, and stop trying to figure out how He will do what He said He would. It’s a very different picture of trust. When you lay back in His hand, you don’t have a great view of what’s around you so you just have to believe that it’s all going to work out. That takes all the pressure off and allows you to enjoy being unstressed.

Stop and consider what your posture is. Are you standing in a defiant position, unsure if God will come through, or are you reclined and fully trusting in the God of your provision? The change from standing to reclining is a huge leap of faith, but that’s exactly what God is waiting for.

God’s Promises Are Beyond True

If God said it, He meant it.

God’s promises are more true than anything in your life.

God’s word is beyond truth. I’m not sure how to describe something that is truer than truth, but that’s what God’s word is. Faithful, true, promise, eternal. When God says something, He means it and will do it. There may be conditions, but He will ALWAYS be faithful.

  • I will never leave you or forsake you. (Heb 13:5)
  • Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psa 37:4)
  • Whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. (Prv 29:25)
  • His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2Pet 1:3)
  • But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. (2The 3:3)
  • To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. (Rev 2:17)

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2Cor 1:20) That means that all those promises are real and they are ours. And when we claim them, we give God the glory because of who He is and what He has done for us.

There are so many promises in the Bible. It would be a good exercise to highlight every promise you come across in a special color, then go back and read them all and do a happy dance.

Has God Changed For You Over Time?

You are meant to grow in faith.

God promises to be all that you need Him to be, if you let Him.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the same God who parted the Red Sea. The same God who walked on water. He is as powerful now as He ever was. He is God. But He should not be the same to you today as He was when you first met Him. He should be more.

If all you know about God is what you prayed when you came into the faith, then you have a lot to learn. He is more than Savior. He is Provider, Healer, Comforter, Prince of Peace, Wisdom, Grace, Mercy, and Love. He is what you need for every area of your life.

You are not meant to be static in your faith. We are “born again” into salvation. By definition then, we need to grow up. You faith must be tested so you learn all the aspects of God that you need for your life. Is money tight? Trust Him to be Provider. Do you need healing? Trust Him to heal. Are you facing difficult challenges? Trust Him to be Wisdom for you.

God’s love for you is so great that He promises to meet every need if you let Him. You will suffer if you don’t, because you can’t do what He can do and He will do so much more than you asked.

When Your Need Meets God’s Provision

Love God first and He'll take care of all your needs.

Give God your heart and He’ll take care of the rest.

God’s upside down world is counter intuitive to our thinking. When we run out of money before we run out of month, we want to panic and figure out how to fix it. It seems like the logical, responsible thing to do. But God says to not worry about it at all. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Mat 6:33)

It’s not that God is telling us that it’s ok to be irresponsible, He just wants us to trust Him in everything. Help can come from sources you do not know. He’s got that part covered. What He wants from you is your heart. Love Him first, above all things. Let Him love you back. When you are filled with His love and joy, you know in your heart that you can trust Him.

It won’t be easy. The first time you have to step out in a huge leap of faith, you’ll question if you’re doing the right thing. If your heart is in the right place, then don’t worry. God will ALWAYS come through. And by His grace and wisdom, He’ll show you how to better manage things so you money and your month work out together in the future. Give God your heart and He’ll give you all that you need.

Childlike Faith Is Believing That God Means What He Says

You better believe that God means everything He says.

Childlike faith will move heaven and earth when you need it.

Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it. (Mrk 10:15)  That’s really hard to do. Think about little children. If they haven’t been abused or lied to, they are so completely trusting. What ever mom or dad says is truth and there is nothing to be afraid of when they are near.

Can you transfer your childlike feelings to your heavenly Father? Can you set aside the framework for how you’ve been told to view the world and simply believe what the Father says? Knowledge has robbed us of simple faith. Even the scriptures we know have lost meaning. Does God really mean on earth as it is in heaven? How can that possible by what He means?

Simple faith. If He said it, He meant it. Can you step out of the pack and believe when no one else does? Who will be right? There’s only one way to find out. Try it. Step out in a way that only God can answer for you and see what happens. If you begin to trust that He means on earth as it is in heaven, He will show you exactly how real it is.

Be childlike in your spirit and big in your faith.

Why Live In Stress When There Is Rest For Your Soul?

Rest is yours if you will trust in God.

You are not meant to carry stress.

There is so much peace when we live as God designed us to live. When we trust Him to be God, to take care of all our needs, we have nothing left to stress over. In the absence of stress, our lives are filled with peace like a gentle breeze and a soothing balm.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me . . . and you will find rest for your souls. (Mat 11:29) Taking His yoke is to let Him do the heavy lifting. Give Him whatever worries you. He wants to take it because He already has the issue worked out. All you have to do is agree with Him that His way is better. Your stress isn’t fixing anything. Your faith will.

Living in rest takes some amount of work because we have to fight the enemy and resist being seduced into fear. Imagine living the good life where all your needs are met and there was nothing to worry about. Will all your issues go away? No, but when you rest in God, you can sit back and watch Him do what you cannot. It is an attitude adjustment. Same issues, but new revelation on how they will be managed. Why live in stress when you can have rest for your soul?

The Problem Of Fear

Don't allow fear to rob you of love.

Recognize fear, then rebuke it with the love of God.

Fear is insidious. It is seductive and dangerous. Dangerous enough to make you lose everything. Arm yourself against it at all costs. Anything you spend should be to protect yourself against fear. And there is only one weapon that will defeat it entirely–perfect love.

If you are struggling with fear, you need a better revelation of love. The love you think you know may be tainted with a bad image of what love really is. Being mistreated, ignored, and taken advantage of is not love. Love is selfless and kind. The love that defeats fear at the root comes straight from the throne of God. That’s the love you want.

You know if fear is a problem in your life, so do something about it. Repent for agreeing with the enemy and ask God for more of His love. Ask Him to allow you to receive more love. Ask Him to help you love more yourself. Ask Him to protect your heart and mind from the attacks of the enemy to seduce you into being fearful.  When you feel fear, rebuke it. Deny it power and declare that God’s love is greater than any power on earth.

The love of God will save you and protect you, if you want it and ask for it. Kick fear out now and never let it come back.

Waiting On God Is Not For The Faint Of Heart

Waiting on God brings blessing you won't get any other way.

Don’t lose your blessing by giving up.

God’s timing might be perfect, but sometimes it takes forever. Even when you know that He will do what He promised, it can still be hard to wait. I have no idea why He seems to linger when He does, but I do know that it’s for my own good. He knows what I don’t, so the timing is for my benefit. It’s probably shaping my character in a way that needs to be changed.

When the wait is hard, take heart: But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isa 40:31) The results of your waiting will give you strength. If the timing is such that you will need to wait longer, then your patience will actually give you the strength to hold on as long as you need.

Therefore the Lord will wait that He may be gracious to you. And therefore He will be exalted that He may have mercy on you. For the lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for Him. (Isa 30:18) One of my favorite verses. He makes us wait to bless us. It may be hard, really hard, but He promises to bless us.

How To Grow Faith

It's ok to start small.

Feed your faith and it will grow.

Faith is a living, breathing substance. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1) I say it’s living and breathing because it can grow or die. Your faith will determine your destiny and what happens in eternity. How you treat it is vital to your life.

Without faith it is impossible to please God. (Heb 11:5) You can’t get to the very next step in the kingdom without it. You can’t even get into the kingdom without it. Fortunately, God has given everyone just enough faith to be saved. (Rom 12:3) What you do with it is up to you.

If you want your faith to grow, you have to treat it like anything else that needs to grow. You have to feed it. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17) Immersing yourself in the Bible will give your faith something to chew on.

Then you have to exercise it. Faith grows when you use it. If it’s too hard to believe in really big things, then believe for what you can. God will bless that. When He does, you’ll see how faithful He is and you can begin to believe for bigger things. Keep going. Miracles don’t happen by wishing. They happen by believing.

Growing In Faith Helps You See Your Way

As we grow in faith, our way becomes clear.

Your path will become clear as you allow God to renew you.

God has not left us to flounder on our own. We are not meant to fail, because He’s given us everything we need to grow in grace and faith. We have His word and we have His Holy Spirit. The more we grow in faith, the easier it is to live in faith.

But the path of the righteous is like the bright morning light, growing brighter and brighter until full day. (Prov 4:18) As we grow in faith, we allow God to renew our mind more and more. We learn precept upon precept, line upon line. The path before us becomes even brighter and more clear.

As we allow God to convict our heart, we become sensitive to the awareness of sin. The more we confess old sinful attitudes, we grow stronger in the good attitudes of God. We may be saved by grace by our confession of faith, but the renewing of our mind takes growth and time.

Do not be discouraged if you don’t feel strong in faith. Ask God to show you what is blocking your growth. You may need to repent of something you know you’ve held onto. Ask Him to cleanse your heart and mind of anything that prevents you from knowing Him fully. Your path will become easier and clearer.
