There’s a little kid in us who likes to hide in that awesome garden spot where no one can see us. Maybe we take a book and cup of tea under an arbor and nestle in on a pillow. There’s something special about a pretty, secret place. God made us to like it. He made it so He has a secret place with us when we sit before Him and spend time with Him. Jesus said, But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place. (Matt 6:6)
God loves a good secret place. He made darkness His secret place, His canopy around Him was dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. (Ps 18:11) For in time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion, in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me. (Ps 27:5) You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plot of men. You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. (Ps 31:20) You called in trouble, and I delivered you, I answered you in the secret place of thunder. (Ps 81:7) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Ps 91:1)
The secret to the secret place is that God is there and He’s waiting for us to come in. The joy is that we can actually live there.
