God Has More For You Than What You Think You Need

The revelations of God are more than simply meeting your needs.

The mysteries of God are hidden for those who will cry out for them.

Are you living in the middle of a storm right now? Don’t assume that it’s your fault. Jesus sent the disciples out to sea and they struggled in a storm He sent them into. He may be trying to get you to take your eyes off of yourself and onto Him.

God promised to meet your every need, but you can’t spend all day watching to see how He will do that. Yes, it’s good to trust in His provision, but He wants your heart of love and devotion, not just your expectation that He will take care of you.

Trust God, then let go of the worry about how and when He will answer. He will. There are bigger and more magnificent things to turn to. There are mysteries in the Spirit that will leave you breathless, but your heart has to cry out for them. You can’t do that if you are wondering where the provision is coming from.

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things you do not know. (Jer 33:3)

He can’t show you great and mighty things if you are wrapped up in Him being provider. That’s only a fraction of what He has for you. Gold, silver, and gems are hidden and must be discovered and dug out. So too with the mysteries of God. Cry out. Be hungry for them. The storm is there to get your attention. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. (Mat 4:4)

A Mature Person Doesn’t Always Have To Win The Argument

Lay down your need to be right in grace and humility.

God blesses a humble heart.

Don’t you hate having a conversation with a know-it-all who you know is wrong? Maybe it’s only over a matter of opinion, but the smugness of someone who can never admit being wrong can be hard to take. The need to be right and for others to agree that we are right is strong. It may be something to let go of.

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression. (Pro 19:11)

You don’t always have to be right. In fact, the very fact that you can let it go shows immense maturity. It shows humility and God gives great grace to the humble.

Our need to be right is tied to our self-esteem. We need others to affirm our “rightness”. But when we lay that down in the sure knowledge that we are royal heirs of God’s kingdom, the opinions of others have very little value. We can overlook smugness with grace. God will vindicate where He will vindicate, all without our help.

When you remember who you are and whose you are, it takes the air right out of the enemy’s attempt to get you riled up. You can let it go in peace and walk away in grace.

God Is Waiting To Bless You. Go Get It.

God is waiting to shower you with blessing.

Showers of blessing are yours if you give yourself to God. Photo credit: kenchu

There are so many blessings waiting to be had that are never received. Such a waste. Especially since those who need it the most suffer through life needlessly. All it takes is reading the Bible and living what it says. Seek first the kingdom of God and He promises to be all that you need Him to be.

God is ready to overwhelm you with more blessings than you could ever imagine so that you’ll always be taken care of in every way and you’ll have more than enough to share. (2Cor 9:8)

How amazing is that? He is waiting to overwhelm you with blessing. So why don’t you have it? Have you obeyed His commandment to seek first the kingdom of God? Have you loved God with all your heart, your soul, and your mind? Blessings come with obedience.

And the wonderful part of that is that the obedience only brings you more joy. Setting yourself to know God is not punishment, it’s awesome. He knows your deepest concerns and wants to work it all out for you. He wants to overwhelm you with blessing. All He asks is that you give yourself to Him in total trust. Yes, it’s a lot to ask, but you were made to love and trust Him. And when you do, the blessings will flow.

Breakthroughs Come From Serving Others

God asks us to be selfless, not self-centered.

Loving others will bring breakthrough where you need it.

A great way to see answered prayer in specific areas is to pray for other people needing the same thing. Do you need a breakthrough in finances? Pray for breakthrough in other people. Give out of what you have to others in need. Looking for a husband? Pray for a friend in the same situation.

When we stop focusing on our own needs and look to bless others, we open doors in heaven to what we’ve been waiting for. The kingdom of God is all about being the body and family. It’s not a self-centered relationship with God.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, the meek, the peacemakers. Give and it will be given to you. This all speaks of serving others and putting others first. If you loved your neighbor as yourself, then you would pray for her and bless her just as you need and want to be blessed.

When we live with that mentality of selfless giving, God promises to be all that we need Him to be. Jesus said the first great commandment was to love God first. The second was to love others. In a culture that idolizes self achievement, this is hard to do. Only through the Spirit of God can you live as He wants you to. Love God first and He will fill you with all you need to loves others as yourself.

Serving “God” Without Jesus Is Pointless

There is no salvation without Jesus.

Jesus is the only path to God.

Let’s be clear–knowledge of God will not save your soul or change your life. If your faith is not centered around Jesus, then you have nothing. It is Jesus who died on the cross to make a gateway into heaven for you. It is His blood that covers our sins and heals us. It was His life that we should follow as our example and model.

Focusing your faith on “God” will get you into deep water you may not be able to get out of. “God” can be described and revered by all kinds of false religions and beliefs. To place all your devotion to “God” is to nullify the great gift of salvation that Jesus died for.

Yes, our hearts should long for God our Father, but only through the blood of Christ. Any other path will lead to death. No other name but Jesus can save, heal, and deliver. If we do not honor the Son as Savior and Lord, then we do not have the salvation we think we have.

Jesus is the Son of God, Savior, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is our advocate before the Father and a loving Shepherd. Find Him and you will find your heart’s desire.

God Is Not Afraid Of Your Questions

Don't loose your faith with all your questions.

Don’t loose your faith with all your questions.

Not everything in the Bible is going to make sense. There are a lot of things you just have to take on faith. Apparently, God doesn’t feel obligated to explain Himself to us. So where does that leave you when you just don’t understand everything? You ask.

Asking questions does not mean you don’t have faith, just don’t get hung up on the minutia. If you have to know every detail of creation, the millennial reign, and the apocalypse, then you’re not in faith at all. But if there are concerns that you have about the Bible, talk to someone you trust who you believe hears God. Listen with your heart. See if what they say feels true.

Read the Bible and ask God to clarify what you’re concerned about. It’s amazing how much He covers in His word. Put your question out there and be aware of all the ways He may answer. It may be through another person, a book, or a dream. It will usually confirm what you already thought because His truth is in you.

God is not afraid of  your questions. He’s concerned that you let them alter your faith. In the end, somethings will never be fully explained for you, and if it does not conflict with your confession that Jesus is the Son of God who died for your sins, then let it go. Not everything is that important and it’s ok.

Trial By Fire Does Wonders For Your Faith

Trials of faith clean out what is bad so God can pour in what is good.

It’s a good thing to be refined by the fire of God.

Nobody likes to go through trials of faith. You begin to doubt everything you know to be true and forget everything you know God said. Your life seems like a black hole with no way out. We all go through it. But why?

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1Pet 1:6-7)

If you allow God to lead you through trials of faith, you will come out cleaner on the other side. When gold is heated, the impurities float to the top to be removed, leaving it purer than it was. We should all want that. Bad temper, unforgiveness, selfishness, jealousy–get rid if all of it.

God wants to take away everything that prevents His Spirit from filling you completely. When you take out what is corrupt, He can pour in what is joyful, loving, and kind. He can mold you into the person He sees from heaven. Don’t avoid the trials. They will make you better than you know.

God Has You In His Hand, But Do You Trust Him?

It takes great faith to relax and trust.

A posture of trust will allow God to be what you need Him to be.

As a believer, you are safe in God’s hands. He promises to protect you and provide all that you need. All that you have to do is trust Him. I happen to know that this is not as easy as it sounds. The Lord showed me that I may realized that I am in His hand, but my posture is one standing with hands on hips and looking around to confirm that He will do that He said He would. It is trust, but only just.

God showed me that He wants me to relax–literally to recline, and stop trying to figure out how He will do what He said He would. It’s a very different picture of trust. When you lay back in His hand, you don’t have a great view of what’s around you so you just have to believe that it’s all going to work out. That takes all the pressure off and allows you to enjoy being unstressed.

Stop and consider what your posture is. Are you standing in a defiant position, unsure if God will come through, or are you reclined and fully trusting in the God of your provision? The change from standing to reclining is a huge leap of faith, but that’s exactly what God is waiting for.

God’s Promises Are Beyond True

If God said it, He meant it.

God’s promises are more true than anything in your life.

God’s word is beyond truth. I’m not sure how to describe something that is truer than truth, but that’s what God’s word is. Faithful, true, promise, eternal. When God says something, He means it and will do it. There may be conditions, but He will ALWAYS be faithful.

  • I will never leave you or forsake you. (Heb 13:5)
  • Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psa 37:4)
  • Whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. (Prv 29:25)
  • His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2Pet 1:3)
  • But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. (2The 3:3)
  • To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. (Rev 2:17)

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2Cor 1:20) That means that all those promises are real and they are ours. And when we claim them, we give God the glory because of who He is and what He has done for us.

There are so many promises in the Bible. It would be a good exercise to highlight every promise you come across in a special color, then go back and read them all and do a happy dance.

Has God Changed For You Over Time?

You are meant to grow in faith.

God promises to be all that you need Him to be, if you let Him.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the same God who parted the Red Sea. The same God who walked on water. He is as powerful now as He ever was. He is God. But He should not be the same to you today as He was when you first met Him. He should be more.

If all you know about God is what you prayed when you came into the faith, then you have a lot to learn. He is more than Savior. He is Provider, Healer, Comforter, Prince of Peace, Wisdom, Grace, Mercy, and Love. He is what you need for every area of your life.

You are not meant to be static in your faith. We are “born again” into salvation. By definition then, we need to grow up. You faith must be tested so you learn all the aspects of God that you need for your life. Is money tight? Trust Him to be Provider. Do you need healing? Trust Him to heal. Are you facing difficult challenges? Trust Him to be Wisdom for you.

God’s love for you is so great that He promises to meet every need if you let Him. You will suffer if you don’t, because you can’t do what He can do and He will do so much more than you asked.
