Finding The Now In Prayer

It’s hard to not always be thinking in the past or the future. That’s usually because we are dissatisfied with our present. If we always look to the past, it’s probably because we’re stuck in some pain that we can’t let go of. If we’re always looking forward, it’s because we’re trying to get out of our present. But there is great peace in finding God in our now.

God is all you need today

Focus on loving God for who He is now.

If there is pain in your past, then take it Jesus. Ask Him to take it from you. Give it to Him. Ask Him to fill you with His goodness. Then you can begin to enjoy Him for who He is to you now. Force yourself to not think past or future. It takes work. Concentrate on who He is.

Think about the great aspects of God and how much He loves you, right now. God’s name is I AM. He is God in your life. He is with you now in full power and full holiness. Bask in His presence and let Him fill you with a divine sense of who He is. It’s an overwhelming feeling being touched by Almighty God.

You will always have a future and a hope, but His mercies are new today. Love Him now and He will fill you for tomorrow.

The True Meaning Of Love

1 Corinthians 13, love

Only God can love with real love

It’s a sad state things when we have to be told what love is. We all have a filter for how we view the world and that helps define what love is to us. Unfortunately, because so many people have troubled lives, it’s difficult to have a clear understanding the true meaning of love.

Love is patient and kind, not jealous, not proud, not rude, not selfish, not easily angered, doesn’t remember wrongs done, is never happy when others do wrong, is happy with truth, never gives up, never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits. (ICor 13)

What does it say when we have to be told that love is not selfish or rude? Our humanity has a twisted perception of love and it’s totally wrong. That’s why so many people are skeptical when they’re told that God loves them, because they don’t understand what love is.

Only God can love with real love. Only He can love without hurting or judging. Ask Him to help you understand and take in the meaning of Him loving you. When you begin to really get what the love of God is in your life, your love for Him will grow enormously. That’s when you really get to know Him and enjoy being His.

Speak Peace To The Storm

authority in God to speak peace

Speak peace to the storm.

When Jesus slept through a storm while crossing the sea, the disciples freaked out. It must have been a pretty bad storm for fishermen to be afraid. They felt they were in danger that the boat would capsize and they’d all drown. Jesus woke up and spoke peace to the storm and there was a great calm. (Mrk 4:39)

The disciples happened to be in a boat tossed by wind and waves. You may be in a situation that you could easily call a bad storm. Maybe it’s a fight that flares up. Maybe it’s a devastating financial loss. It could be anything that suddenly robs you of time, money, peace, or health.

Jesus was amazed that the disciples were afraid. Why are you fearful? How is it that you ave no faith? (Mrk 4:40) He expected them to know that they were always safe with Him. Even so, He expects us to know that we are always safe with Him.

Do what Jesus did. Speak peace to the storm. Declare peace in an unpeaceful situation. It’s no different from talking to the wind or waves, and if Jesus did it then so can you. You have the same authority. Take charge and release His peace.

Don’t Be Afraid To Be Pruned

Don't be afraid to be pruned.

Allow God to prune your life to maximum fruitfulness.

It’s obvious that a diseased plant needs to be pruned to allow it to grow strong. Even a healthy plant needs to be pruned so channel the growth into flowers and fruit. So we should also expect the same.

Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. (Jhn 15:2) We all have areas of our life that need to be pruned. Not necessarily because of sin, but because of direction and wastefulness. If we are to be as effective as possible for the kingdom, we need to know that we are spending our time and resources in the best possible way.

Jesus spoke of seed falling and sprouting. But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. (Mat 13:8) The same seed that yielded thirty-fold had the potential of yielding a hundredfold. Why didn’t it? The ground, the heart, was not yielded enough for maximum growth.

Ask God to show you where your life needs to be pruned. Are you wasting time in areas that are not proving fruitful for Him? When you spend your life in Him, He blesses all your concerns. Be pruned and fruitful and strong in the kingdom.

Sow Well For Wonderful Harvest

If you sow much, you will reap much.

You will harvest tomorrow what you sow today.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. (Gal 6:7) There is a warning in that, but also a lesson. We are living today on the actions of yesterday.

We live in a progression of seasons, just like the earth. The things we sow into now will come to harvest in our future. If we are miserly with our giving, the we will reap a miserly reward. If we are generous today, we will receive a generous reward.

We are responsible for our own blessing. It’s easy to blame God for not doing enough for us, but when He stands us in front of the mirror of our lives, we’re shown how much we’ve “paid forward”. He who lives by the sword will die by the sword. He who gives will receive. We are forgiven by the same measure that we forgive others.

If we chose to be stingy in our lives, we rob ourselves of an abundance of blessing. Sow with more than you have in the past and see what happens in the future. Give your time, your money, your kindness and you will harvest good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.

Are You Doubtful Of The Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit will guide you in truth.

The Holy Spirit is your source of power and peace.

There are people who are critical or doubtful of anything to do with the Holy Spirit because they’re afraid of fraud. Admittedly, fraud has been an issue in all areas of the church, but that is not a reason to dismiss an entire aspect of God.

Jesus taught that the Holy Spirit was sent from God. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name… (Jn 14:26) Will you argue with Jesus that the Holy Spirit is not of God? The power of our authority as believers comes from the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We can’t do what we’ve been given to do without Him.

Ironically, the One who can be the greatest source of truth is the Holy Spirit Himself. However, when He the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. (Jn 16:13) If you are really uncertain  that receiving the Holy Spirit is scriptural, then you need to go back and read the scriptures again. Ask God to give you understanding and clarity. Don’t rely on one person’s opinion. You are responsible for your own faith.

Once you make friends with the Holy Spirit, you are connected with God in a way that will cover you with grace and peace. All the fruits of the Spirit are yours forever.

Are You Broken?

Give your broken life to Jesus and He'll give you a new one.

God is never far from you.

Sometimes life can shatter us in ways that seem unfair and unexpected. We can be blindsided from areas that we trusted, which makes the devastation so much greater. We can be lost in hopelessness to the point of wishing for any easy end to the pain.

Don’t despair. Don’t give in. There are some truths that you must hold onto, even if you can’t feel them to be true. God is always good. God is always with you. Your situation may make you feel that God is not good and you are totally alone, but that’s not true at all.

Take a deep breath. Call out to Jesus. Give Him everything–every last bit. He wants to take it all from you. Ask Him to help you let go off all the issues that hurt you. Ask Him to fill you with His peace and provision.

The battle has already been won on the cross. Jesus paid the price for you to be set free from assault of any kind. All you have to do is reach out to Him and ask for His help. Do not go on another day on your own. Jesus is with you and loves you wildly. Your broken life can be made new today.

Your Life Today Is Preparing You For A Greater Tomorrow

Our lives are never wasted with God.

Today is a day of preparation for a greater tomorrow.

Do you ever remember David being called the Bear Killer or the Lion Killer? Why is that? He certainly did those things. Oh, it’s because after that he killed a giant. Killing a bear and a lion prepared him for saving a nation.

We may think that what we’re dealing with now is a pretty big deal. It may be, but it could also be preparing you for something far bigger. God is always preparing us for greater work. It’s up to us to cooperate with Him to see those results.

You may be on the opposite spectrum. Maybe nothing at all is happening in your life. Moses spent forty years shepherding sheep before God sent Him to deliver His people. Moses probably thought he would live and die as a shepherd, but he may have been gaining skills needed to lead a million people across the wilderness.

What ever you are doing now is not wasted in any way, regardless of the decisions you’ve made. God will use whatever you put in His hand, and your life is in His hand. Today is a day of preparation. Today is a another day of experience and talent to be used for His purposes when the time is right. Hang in there and watch and see what happens.

Unity In Praise Attracts God’s Presence

God inhabits the praise of His people.

Unity in praise brought the glory of the Lord.

There is an amazing story in the Bible about moving the ark into Solomon’s new temple. The temple was filled with priests and singers and musicians. It came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music…the house of the Lord was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God. (2Chr 5:13-14)

Now that’s a worship service I want to be in. I don’t think it would only happen with something as grand as moving the ark. God inhabits the praises of His people. When the trumpeters and the singers were as one, when everyone was in unity in praise, God came down.

Imagine if everyone joined in praise without any thought to anything else. No one standing around while other people sang. No one looking around to see who was watching. What if everyone’s heart was focused on God, full of praise and worship? Complete unity in praise is attractive to God. He can’t help Himself from filling the room with His presence. Wouldn’t you love to see that?

Loving God With All Your Heart

Love God with all your heart.

God must be first in your heart.

All the hopes and dreams that you have as a believer will never be answered as long as you fail to put God first in your life. There are so many ways that we move Him down the list of priorities in our heart. Our relationships, our families, our jobs can all take first place in our lives. And then we wonder why we don’t see blessing.

Putting your first love in another person is dangerous. Anything that you love more than God becomes an idol. Your spouse, your children, your boyfriend or girlfriend, no matter how good they are, if you love them more than you love God, then they become a stumbling block to you.

Now here’s the secret. Loving God first does not take away from your love of others. When you throw yourself into the love of God, He cleans you up so your relationships with others become even sweeter. You don’t lose anything and your gain so much more.

Is your happiness tied to another person? Then your priorities are wrong. Ask God to forgive you for putting others first. Commit yourself to loving God with all your heart. Read His promises to you and thank Him for His goodness to you. Press into that love and you’ll start to see the blessings come to you.
