Stop Listening To The Lies

The church is full of power.

It’s time for the church to rise up.

The biggest lie of the enemy is that we are powerless. It is his greatest fear that the church will realize her true calling and position in Christ. When we stand in our real authority and release the kingdom of God in love, everything and everyone is effected. There is no power that can stand against it.

The truth is that we are ready now to rise up, because we have everything we need to be who we are called to be: His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. (2 Pet 1:3)  We have everything we need to world changers. The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you. (Rom 8:11)

So what’s the problem? Why aren’t we changing the world? Because we listen to the lies. The lies say that we’ll be embarrassed if we say or do anything outside the status quo. Unfortunately, the status quo is letting the world go to hell. The lies say that there is no power in the name of Jesus anyway. The lies say that God doesn’t answer when we call.

It’s time to stop listening to the lies. Rise up church. You are powerful and ready to release the kingdom.

Why David Is Such A Great Role Model

God honors humility.

David’s humility established his throne.

In Psalms 132, God promises to keep the sons of David on his throne forever if they keep God’s covenant. (v 12) That is a remarkable promise to make to a man. This is a man we need to view as a role model. Why was David so valued by God? Look in Psalm 131.

Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lifted up. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, nor with things too profound for me. (Ps 131:1) For all that David did to save his nation, he never let it go to his head. To me, this sounds like an older, mature David comfortable with humility. He knows that it was always God’s strength that did the real work. There was no way he would take credit for what God did.

David also had an ability to rest. Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother. (131:2) He was intentional in calming his soul. He chose to be quiet because it is in that state that we commune with God the best.

The attributes of David that I will take away are his humility and peace. It made him a truly great man in God’s eyes. Enough to establish his throne forever.

I’ve Been Set Apart. Have You?

God has a plan for you.

We are made to love God

There is something very moving about looking at our salvation from God’s perspective. Jesus’s death on the cross was intentional, planned before the foundations of the earth for a reason. He has drawn us to Himself because He adores us and it is His goal for us to understand that and love Him back. Continue reading

How Do You Pray To A Trinity? Part Four

Do you even think about who the Holy Spirit is in your life? He is part of the Godhead. He is God in you. If you really cannot relate to him, you may have issues with your mother. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, the One who literally wraps Himself around you to comfort you when you are hurting. He’s also the One who fills us with joy and peace. Talk to Him. Be quiet and listen to Him. He’s actually a lot of fun and has a great sense of humor. But He also knows our deepest pain. He will be the one you feel close by during the long, sleepless nights of agony. If you don’t have a relationship with Him, start now. He’s almost giddy at the thought of being friends with you.

How Do You Pray To A Trinity? Part Three

You need a relationship with Jesus.

What do you feel when you think about praying to Jesus? Can you see Him in your mind? If you don’t feel comfortable going to Jesus, you may have issues with siblings. There is a roadblock there that needs to be removed so you have total access to the Godhead. Ask Jesus what the problem is that prevents you from feeling comfortable with Him. Do you need to repent for something or receive forgiveness? Be open and honest with Him and He’ll bind up the wounds and bring peace. You need to have a relationship with your Brother/Savior/Friend. After all, He died for you. He really wants you to come to Him.

How To Pray, Part One

What does God want you to pray?

I was trying to fall asleep one night when a name kept running through my head. It was the name of someone who’s been in the local news for weeks. I was sick of hearing it, but God said to pray for this man. I really wanted to go to sleep, but I sent up a quick prayer to ask God to bless the man and his marriage. God was not happy with that prayer, not because it was a bad prayer, but He wanted something else. He told me to pray for something completely different, something I never would have thought to ask for. I had to repent of being flippant with God’s request. He trusted me enough to put a situation He could move in into my hands and I wasn’t sensitive enough to realize it. I should have asked, how should I pray? I should have prayed according to His will. Not that God wouldn’t bless the man, but He had a more specific goal. Listen first, then pray.

Does God Talk To Children

God Talks To Children Too

You would be astonished at how clearly children hear from God. Once they have been trained to listen, by understanding the concepts described in How Can I Hear From God, they hear Him with remarkable clarity. It’s easy for them because they have not learned to doubt. They don’t have the years of negative teaching the most adults have to let go of. They pick up the ability with an almost casual ease. They are not afraid to recognize silly things as the voice of God where an adult would dismiss them.

There’s a sweetness to how children relate to God and I think that God is delighted by that. They take the concept of hearing God’s voice very seriously, and adults should too. They need to be taught the guidelines of speaking prophetically, but then they love it. Some of the most stunning prophetic words I’ve ever had were given to me by children.

Training children to hear God is the best way to ensure life and health to the future church. For excellent material on training children to hear God, check out http://www.iTreasures.org/.

How Can I Hear From God? Part 7

God Is Talking All The Time

So you have your antenna up and you’re listening carefully and you think you heard something from God. What do you do with it? When Mary saw God doing things, she pondered them in her heart. Wise move. Think about what you heard. Chances are, He will confirm it through someone or something else. Be moderate about how you see Him talking. It’s easy to be extreme and see every single thing as a message where it is not. But when it is, pay attention. Learning to hear God speak to your personally opens up realms of understanding. He makes you feel special because He’s talking directly to you. Practice it. It’s ok to make mistakes, but the more you practice listening, the sharper your reception will be. Now, what’s He telling you today?

How Can I Hear From God? Part 6

God Speaks Through Our Dreams

Can God talk to me in my sleep? Most definitely. Dreams are a big way of communicating to you and there are lots of examples in the Bible of that. They may feel real, like your not sleeping at all. Sometimes those message dreams wake us up at night. Keep a journal by your bed and take the time to write them down before you go back to sleep. Same thing when you wake up in the morning, write down a dream that you remember that feels like a message. They don’t stay in our memory for very long. Look at everything in the dream for meaning—sound, color, numbers, order of things. Images can have special significance and there are good books to look up dream interpretation. Of course, we can get strange dreams because the pizza we ate or stress, so filter out what doesn’t feel like God. Next, making sense of it.
