God Has Never Been Distant From Us | He Is Intimately Near

God chose one man to be friends with and change history forever.

God chose one man to be friends with and change history forever.

I love that God is personal with us. It’s sad that so many believed for so long that God was impersonal, barely even a person, who lived in the far, far distance and only associated with people when He was angry. That is a perverse description of Him.

In fact, God loves us so much, that He came to live with us. He knows all about our aches and pains because He got tired and hungry just like we do. He is personally, intimately close to us. He cares about the things that we care about. Many of those things He put in us in the first place.

I find it amazing that our entire culture of faith came from God picking out one man named Abram. One man, out of who knows how many million that lived. God got personal with one man and a culture was born to change our relationship with Him forever.

God cared about Abram, how he lived, what he thought, what he would pass on. He was chosen, and not by a random drawing. He was chosen because God knew him. He has always been close to us and always will be. He is a personal God because He knows you and He knows me, as a person. That’s the way it is between friends.

How To Tell That You Are Living In The Kingdom Of God

The kingdom of God is about showing kindness to an unkind world.

The kingdom of God is about showing kindness to an unkind world.

Being saved in the kingdom of God requires us to change. We cannot come to Christ and not be changed. If we are not altered from the inside, then we have not experienced true salvation. When we give our hearts to God, we give Him everything. If we hold anything back and refuse to change, then we haven’t truly understood what salvation is all about.

So what happens when we do? When we are saved through Jesus, we have access to the Holy Spirit. When we ask Him to come fill us, we are given everything we need. His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. (2Pet 1:3)

That means that you won’t react badly when someone cuts you off on the freeway. You will smile kindly when you’ve been rudely treated for no reason. You’ll want to give when you see a need you can fill.

It doesn’t mean that you won’t feel the urge to react in anger, but you have a stronger sense to respond kindly. And the more you give yourself to the Holy Spirit, the less you’ll feel the urge to respond badly. Your kind response to an unkind world is the change that happens when you live in the kingdom.

God Helps You Love The People Who Hurt You The Most

AGod will give you what you need to love.

God will give you what you need to love.

Jesus makes it really hard to hold grudges. You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. (Mat 5:43-45)

That’s a pretty tall order. Do good to those who hate you! That’s hard to do, especially since our gut reaction is to protect ourselves from being hurt. We put up walls that shut people out when we’ve been hurt, and it’s hard to love that way.

So how do you protect yourself from being hurt and still love people? You fill yourself with the love of God. His love will protect your heart and give you all that you need to give out. The enemy will still try to goad you into responding badly, but keep your heart soft toward God and He will be your shield against hurt. He is a shield to all who trust in Him. (Ps 18:30)

Being protected is vital, but now you need to give out the love that God put in you. It may or may not be appreciated. Don’t worry about it. It’s a lot better than holding a grudge.

The Love Of God Will Change How You See The World

The love of God will change your perspective.

The love of God will change your perspective.

When you are motivated by the love of God, you begin to see the world through rose-colored glasses, so to speak. You really begin to see things differently. Your perspective takes on His perspective and you see things you didn’t see before.

For instance, people with ugly hearts and bad attitudes don’t trigger anger or resentment so much. Instead, you see how lost they are and how desperately God wants to draw them into the kingdom where they will be safe.

Or, a clogged up highway that slows traffic to a snail’s pace won’t create frustration and annoyance. Instead, you start to wonder if you are being delayed for heavenly reasons. Will you be safer for being late? Will you avoid a greater evil? Or run into a greater blessing?

Looking at your life from a  heavenly perspective lifts you out of petty reactions. When you know that you are in the middle of God’s plans, you have greater patience for things you can’t control, because you know that God is in control. You can roll with it.

Ask God to give you His rose-colored glasses. Ask Him to show you life from His seat. It’s a wonderful view.

Jesus Makes It Very Clear How To Show Your Love For Him

If you love Him, you will obey Him.

If you love Him, you will obey Him.

Jesus proved His love for us by dying on the cross. How do we prove our love for Him? Jesus makes it very clear: If you love Me, keep My commandments. (Jhn 14:15) The first time that really hit me, I was guilted by all the things I knew I wasn’t doing. But over time, that has changed.

The reason I felt guilty when I read that before was because I had pretty flimsy love. You know, the kind of love that works for me, not Him. The kind of love that will let me do some things He wants, but not others. It was a love of convenience. Actually, it wasn’t all that loving.

Now when I consider what He says, I think, but of course I will obey You. I want to obey the One my heart turns to the most. I want to please Him. I trust Him, so I know what ever He’s got going on will be for me, not against me. I’m not saying it’s always easy, but think about it. If you love someone , truly love them, you will do anything for them, no matter how inconvenient.

Take stock of how much you really love God and ask Him to help you increase that. The more you love Him, the more amazing He becomes to you.

You Are God’s Perfect Creation And His Delight

You are God's delight

You are God’s delight.

The next time you primp in the mirror, stop for a second and think about this: you are God’s delight. How amazing is that? God says in His word: Rejoicing in His inhabited world, and my delight was with the sons of men. (Prov 8:31)

His delight! You are created to be delightful to God. It’s odd to think that when you look back at yourself in the mirror, but it’s true. He loves you. He dotes on you. He thinks about you constantly. Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. (Ps 40:5)

He is a proud father, because He sees you as His perfect creation. He looks at you through the blood of Christ, so He doesn’t see what you see. You just have to get used to seeing yourself the way He does. You are perfect before Him, with a promise and destiny that He have given you.

Never feel badly about yourself, because God doesn’t feel badly about you. He loves you wildly. You are His adorable child, and it’s ok to feel good about that.

Don’t Let People Talk You Out Of This Current Move Of God

Jump in. The water's fantastic.

Jump in. The water’s fantastic.

Are you excited by what God is doing in the church today? If you are not seeing it, maybe you are hearing about it. People are being healed physically. People are being set free from emotional pain. The power of God is changing lives all over the world.

You can be part of this. You don’t have to be a bystander in a move of God that may unprecedented in history. The outpouring of God’s Spirit is phenomenal. It’s easier now to hear the voice of God than it ever has been. All you have to do is ask.

Ask God to speak to you so you hear His voice. Ask Him what He thinks of you. Ask Him about His plans for you. Ask Him to bless your life and those around you. Pray for physical healing. Pray for any breakthrough that you need.

Do not be swayed by the opinions of others. Are their opinions recorded in the Bible, or is God’s? Who’s word is true? Trust God to be who He says He is. When He promises to heal, and He does, then He will. When He promises to bless, and He does, then He will.

This is a great time to be a believer. You’d better jump in, because the water is fantastic.

How To Stop Doing Bad Things With The Fruits Of The Spirit

The fruits of the Spirit will change your life.

The fruits of the Spirit will change your life.

How do you change a bad habit? Working at not doing that thing is probably not the best way to go about it. You may need to rethink what the problem is. Is the problem really about losing your temper? Is it really about being impatient or angry? Trying not to be impatient can probably make you crazy.

First of all, recognize that the unsavory aspect of your life is actually sin. Repent. Just repent. Ask Jesus to forgive you and it will be covered by the blood of Christ. Your slate is clean. If you find yourself doing the same thing again, then repent again. Don’t sweat it.

Now be filled with the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Gal 5:22) So many issues that we face can resolved by living with these gifts. Patience and kindness alone will change your life.

Stop looking at the bad aspects and start looking for the greatness that God has put in you. Yes, it’s in you. If you have given your life to Jesus, then you have everything you need. His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2Pet 1:3) You stop doing bad things when you start living in Christ.

The Anointing Of God Is The Secret Sauce That Will Change Your Life

The anointing of God is His blessing on your life.

The anointing of God is His blessing on your life.

When the priests of the temple were being sanctified, the oil of anointing was poured over them. It was poured over their heads, their hair, their beards, and down their garments. It was a lot of oil. And he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him. (Lev 8:12) To consecrate means to set apart for a high purpose. The priests were made holy by being consecrated because they were covered with the oil of anointing.

Jesus did not die on the cross just so we can go to heaven. As amazing as that act was, He actually opened the door for us to live here and now in a supernatural way. It is way filled with His presence and power, just as Jesus lived, and the Holy Spirit came to help us do that.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is just like the oil that was poured out over Aaron’s head, only we aren’t sanctified externally, we are changed internally. It is the higher calling of our relationship with God, from knowing about Him to knowing Him intimately.

When we have the Holy Spirit in our lives, we are actually filled with the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. He is the power that changes everything. He is the blessing of God on our lives, making us sanctified and holy before Him. He is the fragrant presence that sets us apart for His purposes.

When we live humbly before God and offer Him all that we are — all our gifts and talents, hopes and dreams, He gives them back covered with His blessing. He gives us favor. And don’t you know that having favor from heaven is the best kind to have.

The anointing from God will bless your efforts and make them more than you could make them. If you make your heart sensitive to being led by God, that anointing will lead you to the steps you need to fulfill your destiny, that amazing plan that God has for your life.

The clear way to say it is that the anointing of God is the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. The Old Testament pouring of oil was a prophetic act for the in-filling of God in us today. It is His blessing on us and the things that we give Him to sanctify. He’s the secret sauce that makes everything better.
