God Has Blessed In The Past And He Will Do It Again

Count your blessings and thank GodYou’ve heard the quote: “I cried because I had no shoes. Then I met a man who had no feet.” We need to learn to be thankful. God is always gracious and kind to us, but we forget so easily. One day we’re happy to be blessed, and the next day we’re grumbling because something didn’t go right.

We all do it, so we need to encourage each other to remember how very blessed we are. Count your blessings. Remember that song? What a good idea. Go back and look at all the things you know God has done for you. Thank Him for it. Use that testimony to encourage someone else.

Just remembering your blessings will give you faith to trust God for the things you face today. He is always faithful. If He helped you in the past, He will do it again. All He wants is your faith.

Don’t let discouragement win. God is good. He is always good, and will be there for you again and again.

Everyone Has A Past — Jesus Takes It Away

Jesus takes away your pastIf you’ve been Facebook at all, you’ve seen those personality quizzes that have gone almost viral. I tend to not pay attention to them, but I got curious about the Which Bible Character Are You? I bit. But I wasn’t happy with the character I was given: Mary Magdalene. The description said, You are someone with a past. It went on to describe what a true and steadfast friend I was, etc.

But I didn’t like the inference that I had a “past”. Then I started to think about it. Of course I had a “past”. We all do. Mary Magdalene’s past may have been notorious, but sin is sin. My sin before I was saved still kept me from God. There is no righteous sin. We are all saved by grace.

Humility is a difficult lesson, but one that is a good to learn. What ever our past is, the blood of Jesus washes us clean. We are all in the same boat with the same needs for salvation. Once we start looking down our nose at other people, we forget our own need.

Mary Magdalene loved Jesus. I’m happy to be like her.

Deeper Faith Means That Things Have To Change

Be ready to do things out of the box.

Be ready to do things out of the box.

If you want to grow in faith, to know God more, to have a deeper relationship with Him, something will have to change. You can’t have a different experience doing the same thing you’ve been doing. The problem is, most of us hate change. We’re very, very comfortable with what we know. We like our schedules and set agendas.

But God tends to work outside of our schedules and set agendas. In fact, He loves to shake us up as much as possible. When we rely on what we already know, we stop turning to Him. That’s the kiss of death right there. Complacency will always lead away from God.

But even if we’re not complacent, even when we are pressing into Him and still want more, we have to be willing to do things differently. Maybe it’s how we pray. Maybe it’s something about how we read the Word or worship. Ask God what He wants from you. Listen with your heart. Feel His nudging. He wants more of you. He wants as much as you’ll give Him, so He definitely knows how to get you closer.

Change for the sake of change doesn’t mean much. But if you want more of God, be ready to do things differently. As some people have said, faith is spelled R I S K.

God Did Not Limit How Much Of His Spirit He Gave To Us

We have to stop making God into our own image. He is not limited in any capacity. He can do anything we ask, if we just believe. Because we are human, we tend to think of everything in terms of what we can do. We don’t always believe that God is capable of doing what He says He can, because we can’t conceive how that could happen. That’s because we’re human.

God is greater than any sinful or diseased condition that we can possibly imagine. Just remember that He is a great big God and we have little bitty problems. His Spirit in us is the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. God does not give the Spirit by measure. (John 3:34) That means that there is no limit to how much of His Spirit that He has given. He didn’t let us have a starter pack or limited time usage. His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2Pet 1:3)

What will you do with that power that God gave you?

What will you do with that power that God gave you?

God not only provided a way of salvation, He provided everything that we need to live in the power of the Spirit of God Himself. You must choose to live in it, or you will not experience everything that has been given to you. You’ve been given a powerful sports car. Will you drive it, or just carry the keys around?

Living in the kingdom of God is an amazing, powerful, and delightful. And it’s yours to live if you want.

You Have The Power To Stop Living In Fear

Fear not, live in peace.

Fear not, live in peace.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2Tim 1:7) Isn’t that a fantastic verse! You have power and love and a sound mind if you are in Christ. Anything that does not fit that is not of God. Fear, anger, hate, disease are of the enemy. And don’t forget that you have power, so you can tell the enemy to take a hike and he has to go.

Far too many people live not knowing that the power to live in God’s peace is already in them. All they have to do is claim what is theirs. Love is theirs. Peace is theirs. A sound mind is theirs.

The spirit of fear can take a number of forms that make it look noble. We may call it concern. We may call it being responsible, but really we’re just afraid something might go wrong. Anything that is not trust in God is going to feel fearful because we have no certain faith in anything or anyone else but God.

If fear, anxiety, concern, or anything that makes you afraid is bothering you, tell it to go in Jesus’s name. You have the power to do it. God said so. Live free and in peace. That’s you right as a child of God.

Can We Actually Be One Church In Christ? Check This Out!

Is it possible to be one with the Catholic Church and the Protestant Churches? Is there a place where we can unite as a universal church in truth? Can we stop pointing fingers at each other and be one in Christ? I think so.

Recently, Tony Palmer, an Anglican Priest presented to a conference of Evangelical pastors with a message about unification that will knock your socks off. Here is the YouTube video of that message. Stay with it, because there is a message from the Pope that is very touching.

Do You Want To Understand The Bible Better?

Let God teach you His truthDo you want to understand the Bible better? It’s a great thing to want. The Bible has all the answers we’re looking for, for all the areas of our lives. It will give wisdom and direction about money, relationships, marriage, prayer, heaven, and more. But we can’t approach it as if it’s written in a heavenly language that we can’t understand. We can.

God wants us to understand His word. When Jesus met the two disciples walking to Emmaus, He explained it to them: And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. (Luke 24:27)When He appeared to the disciples after His resurrection, … He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. (Luke 24:45)

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26)

The only reason you may not understand the Bible is because you haven’t asked God to help you. He’s not going to force feed you or give you an instant download. It’s going to take daily reading and prayer and a willingness to hear Him. As you read, listen with your heart. Be ready to unlearn what you thought you knew about somethings. The traditions of men have become strong, so be open to letting God teach you His truth. The Bible is a fantastic revelation of God and will take you deep into His heart.

Have You Fallen Away From Having Devotions? Just Start Again!

Don't neglect your prayer time. How easy it is to be distracted by life. Our well established routines of spending quiet time with God can disappear in a nano second when life changes. We take a trip. Someone comes to visit. We get sick. All of a sudden we realize that it’s been days, weeks, or months since we’ve been in communion with God the way we used to.

Everyone does this. We just have to remember what our priorities are and go back. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Mat 6:33) This should be the most important thing. If we are not seeking God first, everyday, then we are in danger of losing focus on what is right and safe for us. The enemy would love us to feel that prayer takes too much time, that we don’t hear from God anyway. Don’t believe it.

Confess to God if you’ve been neglecting Him. Ask His forgiveness and enter into the joy of relationship with Him. Soak in His presence and feel His love wash over you. Ask Him to speak to your heart. He’s always communicating to you somehow, you just haven’t been listening.

Don’t beat yourself up if you’ve fallen away from your devotions. Just go back, and be blessed.

God Needs Someone To Say Yes

Say Yes to God!There is so much that God would do on earth if He had willing partners. All He needs is someone to say, Yes! He would heal. He would multiply food. He would open doors and shower blessing. He would save people in desperate need of being saved.

But the kingdom of God is set up for us to be participants in what He does. He wants to use us, whether we want to be used or not. And if we refuse, or fail to make ourselves available to Him, other people are effected by it.

If we say, “Yes, Lord, use me”, He will. He just needs someone willing to agree with Him. Say yes and watch what happens. Listen to the leading in your heart. He may nudge you to speak to someone. They may have just asked for help, for someone to pray. You have no idea the impact you can have if you are willing to be God’s arms.

Imagine what this world would be like if we all said, Yes! Imagine God moving freely through His people to bless and heal. Imagine having that relationship with Him. Try it. Be used. The more you trust Him, the greater He can work. And remember, He’s doing the work, not you. All you have to do is say yes and keep your eyes open.

God’s Not Very Proper About Some Things

God can show up anyway He likesI love how we have a tidy ideal of what God does and how He acts. But it’s hard to hold onto that when we read the Bible. The Old Testaments prophets were told to do some strange things, like walk around naked or marry a prostitute. Jesus spit on a man to heal him.

I think that God has to go to some extremes with us just to get our attention. We have everything all worked out in our head and God’s trying to show us that He’s not in our plan. Then, when He does something outrageous, we get offended and say it can’t possibly be God, because He doesn’t act like that. But not according to the Bible.

God can act any way He wants, and without our permission. Once we decree what He will or will not do, we set ourselves up for some surprising reactions from heaven. We need to be careful judging what we see. We’re told to test the spirit. If the spirit of God is in the middle of it, then no matter how strange it looks, we’d best not judge it.

It’s always possible for God to do something so far outside the box that we don’t recognize Him. Let’s watch and pray so we don’t miss anything He does. Let’s not be left behind what ever He’s doing.
