Is The Bible A Book Or A Weapon?

The Bible is a sword of the SpiritAnd take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Eph 6:17) If we view the Bible as a good book, a historical reference, a “guide” for life, then we have missed the point of God giving us His Word.

Jesus came to show us how to live, then He sent the Holy Spirit to give us the power to live it. The Word of God is a powerful weapon of the Spirit. Jesus was very effective in rebuking the devil with scripture. It is exactly what we need to do as well.

Do you live in fear? Memorize Psalm 91. Declare it. Let it sink into your heart and your spirit. Knowing the promises of God are a sure weapon against the assaults of the enemy. Don’t think you are being assaulted? Consider if you are struggling with finances, health, relationships, doubt, anxiety. Anything that does not agree with the goodness and peace of God does not come from God. There is an answer for all of life’s issues in the Bible. Claim them and believe the power of what God has given us.

His Word is a flaming sword of the Spirit meant for us to use for the kingdom. Read the Word with thoughts of potential. Then practice using your sword.

You Can Never Dream Too Big For God

Collect vessels, not a fewDo you remember the story in 2Kings 4 about Elisha telling the widow to fill jars with oil? He didn’t tell her how many jars to collect. He said, Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. He meant a lot! She was wise to collect as many as she could, because God used every single one of them.

What if she collected twice that many? What if she got the idea to use really big containers, barrels? Would God pour into them like the jars she used? I think so. Our God is a God of abundance and generosity. He will never skimp when it comes to blessing us. But He will bless us according to our faith in being blessed.

Can you dream big? I mean really big? God would probably have even bigger plans for you if you’d let Him. Do you think you deserve tremendous blessing? Many people do not. That’s the lie of the enemy to make us feel unworthy of God’s grace.

Once we’ve been redeemed, we are a royal family with a kind and loving Father. When your heart beats with His heartbeat, you want what He wants, and He wants so much more for you than you know. When He says collect as many vessels as you can, think tanker trucks and ocean liners, because there is no limit to God’s grace.

Faith Means That You Really Trust God With Your Life

Fear not, live in peace.

Fear not, live in peace.

If the demands of life are too hard on you, you are not trusting God. It’s that simple. It’s true that God will ask more of us that we think we can manage, but if that leads to stress and fear, then you don’t believe that He will help you at all.

We all do this, so don’t beat yourself up about it. It may take that headache, stomach ache, or back pain to make you wake up and realize that you’re holding stress in your body. That is not God’s plan for you at all. You are called to live in peace, no matter what the pressures are.

Cast your burdens on Him. It’s a command, not a suggestion. If you are not trusting God with the answers, you need to repent. Take a deep breath and breathe in His peace. He knows. He’s got a plan. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but if you trust God, you’ll be just fine.

It starts with repentance. Confess that you haven’t been living in faith. Give Him what stresses you and receive His peace. Do it over and over if you have to. It’s easy to take back our worries after we hand them over, so leave them with the Lord. Life is good. It’s time to enjoy the blessings that are yours.

Why Are Young People Leaving The Church?

Children are looking for God too.Why are young people leaving the church? It’s not an easy question to answer, but I have my ideas. As parents, we teach our children from the moment we wake up in the morning until we go to bed at night. Everything we do trains them in some way. They watch and listen and understand our reactions without being told. Children can see the difference between a confession of faith on Sunday and what is expressed at home.

Faith that comes from knowledge instead of relationship is not faith at all. Jesus said, My sheep know my voice. If the voice of God is not heard in the home, there is nothing to follow. Children can be entertained anywhere, but what they want is the real thing, just like everyone else. If what they see at home is not the Emmanuel, God with us, they will look for something else to fill that deep need to know Him.

We are called to live in intimacy with God, not worship Him from a distance. He needs to be active in our lives when the washing machine breaks down, when the dog is hit by a car, when bills are past due. Turning to God for help when you need it is what Jesus meant when He said, Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. (Mat 6:25) He knows what you need, but you won’t see His help until you start to trust Him.

Let your children watch you trust God in the hard times. Let them see you put your family in His hands. Then let them see you rejoice in gratitude when the answers come. Show them the reality of God and His amazing love. Once they understand that He is real and active, there’s no reason to leave.

Have You Figured Out Who Jesus Is?

Who is Jesus to you?The disciples had been following Jesus for some time, watching Him heal the sick and raise the dead. He did miracles that no one else could do, and yet He had to ask them, “Who do you say that I am?” (Mat 16:15)

If they did not understand who He was, then they would not understand the salvation that He would provide. A prophet, a teacher, or a good man could not live sinless and be the sacrifice that we need. Only the Son of God could live without sin and take away our stain.

Stop and ask yourself, who is Jesus to you? Is He a nice teacher? Is He a kind face from a painting holding a lamb in His arms? Is He a defeated rescuer pinned to a cross or a triumphant King resurrected in power?

Is He a distant deity, a guilt-provoking reminder of your failures? If He is, then you’ve believed a lie. Jesus should be the great love of your life. His love for you is massive and eternal. He is the risen Son of God who stands knocking on the door of your heart because He wants a relationship with you. A real relationship. All you have to do it answer.

Who is Jesus to you? Best Friend, Savior, Emmanuel, Eternal Lover.

Protecting Your Pain Will Only Make You Feel Worse

Let go of every pain. Are you protecting pain? For some reason, we like to hold onto the things that hurt us and protect it carefully, not allowing anyone or anything to touch it. If it gets touched, we’re afraid that it will start hurting again. We think if we ignore it or distance ourselves from any chance of stirring things up, we’ll be safe.

Not so. Holding onto pain is like adding poison to your food every time you eat. It will literally eat away at your soul until you can’t feel anything at all. That’s not a way to live, especially since Jesus sacrificed so much to deliver you out of it.

Help is a heartbeat away. All you have to do it confess to God that you’ve been holding onto what you shouldn’t have and give it to Him. All of it. Don’t give it over then take it back again. Allow the peace of God to settle into your spirit and heal you. It may take time to take layers off, so keep at it. Eventually, you’ll feel the joy that belongs to you.

Holding pain, protecting anything that hurts you, is a bad idea. Yours is a promise of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Live in freedom and the fullness of what is yours in Christ.

Mean People Take Some Training To Respond To

Not the right way to respond.

Have you ever had to deal with someone you really didn’t want to? Maybe they are mean and rude. Does your first reaction sound like Grrrr? Note to self: wrong reaction. This kind takes some training on your part. You have to purposely decide to respond in love. Whoops! Yes, I said love.

Learn to not respond immediately. Training takes time to rethink the situation. Love does not respond in rudeness. Whether you feel genuinely loving or not, bless the person. Make the effort to bless them in all the areas that are obvious to you. That alone will calm you down and help readjust your spiritual priorities. It may be difficult every single time, or it may get easier as your blessings take hold of them.

Learning to bless the mean ones makes blessing the nice ones even better. Pretty soon, your response will be in alignment with God’s grace for us. Ask Him to help you respond in kindness. We all need help to do that. Confess if you’ve allowed an ugly spirit to compromise your peace. Get rid of anything that does not belong to God.

Training yourself to respond to others in a godly way will mark you in the kingdom as someone God can trust to touch anyone He sends your way.

Regret Should Be A Memory, Not A Way Of Life

Let go of regret. God does.Do you ever think about regrets you have about your life? Everyone one has them, especially parents. Everyone thinks back on decisions that were made and wonders what things would be like if that decision didn’t happen. That’s because we’re human. We’re not made to be perfect or robotic. We are designed to make mistakes. And mistakes aren’t always the end of the world.

God loves us beyond measure. He loves us completely, warts and all. He sees our past and our future and loves us unconditionally. And the destiny that He made for each of us was made with all our mistakes in mind. We haven’t ruined anything. God can redeem our worst decisions.

That should be a very comforting thought. It means that we should not hold onto regrets, because God does not. We need to give them to God and let Him fix what we cannot. If regret still nags you, then confess it to God. Let Him heal that wound and bless you with what He wants to give you. Being human is not a sin. How we respond to our humanity can be. Fear not — that’s a command. Let go of regret. Let go of fear and let God bless and guide you. He loves you enough to see past your mistakes.

You Are A History Make Whether You Like It Or Not

Your life effects everyone around you.You are a history maker, whether you think so or not. Everything you do effects your life, the lives of people around you, and how it all fits together for the future. You actions, or lack of action, creates a ripple the extends out through time. You don’t have to be a statesman to effect tremendous change. The question is, will it be for good or bad?

To effect change for good, we need to have the mind of Christ. If the Spirit of God is within you to hear His voice, you can make decisions that He is directing. Think about it — everything you do can be the right thing. Yes, we are human, and we will make mistakes, but God can still work with that. Being submissive to His will and His voice gives us the direction and inspiration that we need to release the kingdom of God on earth.

What if your encouragement is all that is needed for someone especially marked by God to change nations? What happens if you don’t do it? Will God use someone else? Who knows? What if your life is such an example of righteousness that you impress people who may never speak to you about it? What you say and don’t say can be vitally important to the destiny of lives you know nothing about.

There is some pressure on us to be righteous beyond our personal needs and wants. We are connected to people, places, and nations. Listen to God and change history today. You have no idea how you will be used.

God Will Bless Every Area Of Your Life, If You Let Him

Let go and let GodEverything you need in life is found in God. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:19) Not part, not some, ALL your needs. God is a God of abundance and riches. He has plenty to give you what ever you need, in every area. Business, relationship, family, goals, dreams — God has the answer.

And not only does God have the answer, He has the perfect answer, whether we chose to believe it or not. He sees what we cannot so His ways will differ from ours, but it will always be for our best. And He is God! His provision will be so much better than we could Micky Mouse together for ourselves.

Over and over again, we are told to fear not. If we put our trust in Him, in every single thing, He promises to take care of us. Will you try it? Will you obey Him? To not trust Him is disobedience. Don’t be like a child who refuses a parent’s help and turns away in stubbornness, only to end up hurting yourself.

Every area of your life can be blessed by God when you allow Him to do what He wants to do for you. Every single area. The thankful child of the King is greatly blessed.
